WORKSHOPS WS26

Winter 2026–27 | 26-10-20 to 27-01-29

Lecturer: Kim Albrecht

Open Project Studio for Information Design
Every other Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Room 3.07

The Information Design Open Studio is an open platform for developing your own projects in the field of information design. The course is open to anyone who wants to carry out an individual project, explore previous work in greater depth, or engage with the field from both a creative and theoretical perspective.

There are various ways to participate:

The course includes weekly project presentations, feedback sessions, and brief lectures. Each participant will also give a short presentation on a studio, a body of work, or a key figure in the field of information design to help the group gain an overview of the diverse approaches in the field.

Combining this with the other courses

The workshops are one of six blocks from which you put your semester together. How that works is described under structure.

About the course

In the workshops we work through, test and explore the theory and practice of information design. Each workshop lasts three hours and stands on its own: one topic, one afternoon.

The workshops are the counterpart to the Open Studio. There everyone works on their own project; here we all work on the same subject. What you take away you can use in your project — but you do not have to. Some things are worth learning in order to know them, not in order to need them immediately.

I will announce what to bring for each workshop in the week before.

The first session: choosing the topics

On 20 October we decide together which five topics we will work on. Bring suggestions.

Anything connected to information design can become a workshop: a technique you want to learn, a tool, a practice, a question. The list below is meant as a prompt, not a pre-selection — it should give you a sense of the directions a workshop can take. Your own suggestions carry equal weight.

Suggested topics

After 20 October the five chosen topics will appear here with descriptions and dates.
